A total of 52 club records were broken this season.Article contentArticle content\u201cThat is an indication that our club is thriving and growing,\u201d said head coach Meghan Todd, \u201cand this generation of swimmers is putting their names in the record books.\u201dArticle contentAria Wood, 14, set two club records while attending the recent East Coast championships in St. John\u2019s, N.L.Article contentShe now holds the record for the long course 1,500-metre freestyle event in her age category. The young swimmer also broke the club\u2019s 800-metre freestyle record in her age category. The previous club record for this event was achieved in 1987.Article contentWood spoke it was a good season for her.Article content\u201cThe most rewarding part was probably working to reach my goals, and (achieving) the goals. That was great,\u201d said Wood.Article content\u201cAnd probably medaling at East Coast, because I\u2019ve never done that before.\u201dArticle contentPROVINCIAL RECORDSArticle contentKai Todd broke 11 provincial records this season in his age category.Article contentIn the short course pool, the 12-year-old broke records in the 200-metre freestyle, 800-metre freestyle, 50-metre backstroke, 100-metre backstroke, and 200-metre backstroke.Article contentArticle contentIn the long course pool, he broke records in the 50-metre freestyle, 200-metre freestyle, 800-metre freestyle, 50-metre backstroke, 100-metre backstroke, and 200-metre backstroke.Article content\u201cThere\u2019s been so many great things,\u201d Kai said about this swimming season.Article content Truro Centurions Kai Todd, left, and Aria Wood enjoyed a highly successful swimming season this year along with many of their teammates. And then, I wasn\u2019t expecting to get any more this season, and I\u2019ve gotten like, 10 more.\u201dArticle contentMany of the records were achieved recently in Montreal, where the swimmer qualified to compete in the Grand Prix du Qu\u00e9bec.Article contentHe secured a spot on the podium twice during the international outdoor swimming competition, winning bronze in the 13 and under 50-metre backstroke, and silver in the 100-metre backstroke.Article contentKai also achieved many club records throughout the season in his age category.Article content\u201cI think it\u2019s a sign that swimmers are loving what they\u2019re doing,\u201d said Meghan, when asked what it means to see swimmers break records in the pool.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2025-26 Truro Centurions pictured at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre pool.
