You know, if I think it&#8217;s funny I&#8217;m going to do it and we&#8217;ll see where it goes.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Whitney &#8211; who has no upcoming scheduled stand-up dates &#8211; went on to compare the country&#8217;s freedom and democracy to soda pop.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Find the one you like and don&#8217;t bi*** about the others,&#8217; the born-again Christian said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Somebody doesn&#8217;t want to like your act then don&#8217;t go see that person&#8217;s act. It&#8217;s as simple as that.&#8217;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8216;Larry the Cable Guy&#8217; aka Daniel Lawrence Whitney weighed in on performing stand-up comedy about hot button topics like politics, race, gender and sexuality in the United States (pictured in2020)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Whitney praised fellow blue-collar comedian Shane Gillis for his ability to triumph in his career after &#8216;getting canceled&#8217; and fired from the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The year prior, the 38-year-old funnyman had uttered homophobic and racist slurs on Matt and Shane&#8217;s Secret Podcast, which resurfaced upon the announcement of his hiring on the NBC sketch show.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I think Shane Gillis pretty much proved to everybody that you can get canceled and if you wanna double down on that, that&#8217;s what people want you to do because they&#8217;re sick of it too,&#8217; the two-time Grammy nominee said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Shane Gillis got even more popular after he got fired from Saturday Night Live for being &#8220;too woke&#8221; from stuff he did 10 years ago, you know? And now look at him.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Gillis &#8211; who did not apologize &#8211; went on to host Saturday Night Live in 2024 despite previously admitting he &#8216;was always a Mad TV guy anyway.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, the 6ft 4in comic &#8211; who reportedly boasts an $8 million fortune &#8211; self-financed a sitcom called Tires, which turned into six episodes when Netflix bought his pilot in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The third season of Gillis&#8217; auto shop workplace comedy premieres August 13 on the streaming giant.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Whitney &#8211; who&#8217;s released seven comedy albums &#8211; endorsed Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>On August 2, the Git-R-Done star and his wife, author Cara Whitney, will celebrate the 20th birthday of their son Wyatt, who&#8217;s serving as a US Army Cavalry Scout.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8216;I don&#8217;t worry about it,&#8217; the Nebraska-born, Florida-raised 63-year-old told Us Weekly last Thursday. &#8216;I already got a pretty good, built-in following and I&#8217;ve got some awesome fans.
