{"id":68513,"date":"2026-05-27T16:59:39","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T19:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/service.codeus.ca\/index.php\/2026\/05\/27\/maradona-trial-clinic-director-says-luque-and-cosachov-pushed-for-home-hospitalization\/"},"modified":"2026-05-27T16:59:39","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T19:59:39","slug":"maradona-trial-clinic-director-says-luque-and-cosachov-pushed-for-home-hospitalization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/service.codeus.ca\/index.php\/2026\/05\/27\/maradona-trial-clinic-director-says-luque-and-cosachov-pushed-for-home-hospitalization\/","title":{"rendered":"Maradona trial: Clinic director says Luque and Cosachov pushed for home hospitalization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> \t\t\t\t\t                       \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t Pablo Dimitroff, the former director of the clinic where Argentine football superstar Diego Maradona underwent surgery days before his death, said the star\u2019s chief medical advisor Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov were the ones who \u201cdecided to take Maradona home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    The former director of Cl\u00ednica Olivos was the key witness at Tuesday\u2019s hearing, which also heard testimony from neurosurgeon Pablo Rubino and psychiatrist Marcela Waisman.<\/p>\n<p>    Dimitroff described Maradona as being in poor condition when he was admitted to the clinic, saying he slurred his words and that \u201cit was hard to have fluid communication with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cYou could tell from his replies that he wasn\u2019t fully aware of where he was, and he struggled to move around,\u201d the doctor said.<\/p>\n<p>    He said the football star improved after surgery to remove a subdural hematoma \u2014 a blood clot beneath the skull \u2014 but that new complications soon emerged.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cHe immediately asked to leave the clinic and return home,\u201d Dimitroff said, adding that Maradona became difficult to manage, frequently removing his IV tubes and at times requiring sedation.<\/p>\n<p>    Against home care    According to the former clinic director, that made him think \u201cit\u2019d be difficult to handle Maradona in home care\u201d and that he proposed moving him to a rehabilitation center instead.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cThe treating medical team decided to take Maradona home, they were the ones who suggested it,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was Luque and Cosachov.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    Dimitroff\u2019s testimony could prove crucial, as it supports the family\u2019s claim that the decision to move Maradona to a gated community for home hospitalization was driven by his doctors, rather than reached collectively as the defendants have argued.<\/p>\n<p>    Details of the operation and treatment    Earlier in the day, neurosurgeon Pablo Rubino and psychiatrist Marcela Waisman gave their testimonies.<\/p>\n<p>    Rubino said he ordered a new MRI scan after Maradona was admitted to Olivos Clinic, and that doctors subsequently agreed to operate on the hematoma.<\/p>\n<p>    He explained that the blood clot had \u201cgrown beyond 10 millimeters,\u201d making surgery \u201cthe recommended course of action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    \u201c[The hematoma] reduces blood flow and oxygen supply and eventually causes the brain to shift,\u201d he said. \u201cDiego had a 6-millimeter brain displacement;
