(Submitted by Saskatchewan RCMP)Misha Pavelick was fighting for his life after he was stabbed at a graduation party in May 2006, a witness said. The testimony came at the start of the third week of the trial for the man accused of killing Pavelick, 19, who was fatally stabbed during a party at the Kinookimaw campground near Regina Beach, about 45 kilometres northwest of Regina, on May 21, 2006.The 36-year-old accused, who has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he was 17 at the time.At the beginning of the trial, the Crown told the jury that Pavelick was involved in two fights during a “chaotic” night, and that he was stabbed after being attacked by a group of people. After two weeks of testimony, there hasn’t been a clear picture yet about how Pavelick was stabbed. On Monday, another partygoer who was part of the chaos testified.Mackenzie Hall, who was 18 at the time, said he was off to the side of the fire as he watched the two altercations happen. During the first altercation, Pavelick was on the ground bleeding from the head as a group of people kicked him, Hall said.“There was so much going on. Nelson, who testified late last month, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in 2007 for that attack. Hall said he walked up to the two of them and hit Nelson over the head with a piece of wood. He said Nelson’s friends came to help him up before they ran into the bushes. He said Kyle Edwards, who testified last week, had also joined in on the fight between Enns and Nelson that night, which the jury had not previously heard. When he looked back towards the fire, Hall said he saw a group of people huddled together near the water tank, on the side of the campground, he testified.“Then you see Misha walk 10 steps and hit the ground,” Hall said.Hall said he rushed to Pavelick, who was covered in blood and “was conscious, but it was a fight … a fight for life.”“He was frantic, scared,” said Hall.Hall said that someone called 911 and he performed CPR on Pavelick.
