The presentation, which included series, films and documentaries, took place at the platform\u2019s new headquarters in Buenos Aires on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cArgentina has become a key player in our regional strategy thanks to its audiovisual tradition, creative power, and ability to tell local stories whose impact and power make them universal,\u201d said Francisco Ramos, Vice President of Content for Latin America.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cToday\u2019s announcement both renews and strengthens our commitment to the country and its audiovisual industry,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    Ramos also noted this is Netflix\u2019s 15th year in Latin America, and that the company will consolidate its local team by expanding the number of executives in the country.<\/p>\n<p>    The presentation included images and footage from upcoming films by top-tier local stars, like actors Ricardo Dar\u00edn and Diego Peretti, and directors like Pablo Trapero and Santiago Mitre.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    Mitre\u2019s yet untitled follow-up to Oscar-nom Argentina, 1985 reportedly centers on the infiltration of \u201ca high-ranking officer into groups that were peacefully organizing to demand information about detained relatives during Argentina\u2019s military dictatorship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    While details of the plot weren\u2019t released, the short synopsis closely resembles the true story of the Church of the Holy Cross kidnappings, in which military personnel abducted a group of activists that included the head of Mothers of Plaza de Mayo Azucena Villaflor, French nuns Alice Domon and L\u00e9onie Duquet, and other relatives of disappeared.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    Attendees were only able to see still pictures of the film\u2019s protagonists Peter Lanzani and Ver\u00f3nica Llin\u00e1s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    True stories blending crime and Argentine pop culture    Netflix\u2019s presentation also included unseen footage of Gordon, a miniseries based on Marcelo Larraquy\u2019s novel on Anibal Gordon, a real-life military spy and political militant who became infamous in the 1970s and 1980s as the leader of a professional criminal gang who carried out kidnappings and robberies. The series, featuring Rodrigo de la Serna as Gordon, was directed by showrunner Pablo Trapero and Pablo Fendrik.<\/p>\n<p>    The platform confirmed August 14 as a release date for a biopic fiction series about showbiz icon Moria Cas\u00e1n. A revue theater actress who starred in popular raunchy comedies in the 1970s and hosted a talk show in the 1990s, Moria is played by three different actresses, including her real-life daughter Sof\u00eda Gala Castiglione, along with Griselda Siciliani and Cecilia Roth.<\/p>\n<p>On April 23, Netflix will premiere Yiya Murano: Muerte a la hora del t\u00e9 a documentary film by Alejandro Hartmann (who directed Netflix\u2019s The Menendez Brothers), produced by Oscar winner Vanessa Ragone (The Secret in Their Eyes).<\/p>\n<p>    Nicknamed The Poisoner of Monserrat, \u2018Yiya\u2019 Murano murdered three women in 1979, becoming Argentina\u2019s first female serial killer and a figure of popular culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    Next year, Netflix will release Perfecta: La voz de Silvina Luna, about the rise and fall of Silvina Luna, a model and actress who died in 2023 allegedly due to an aesthetic surgery malpractice.<\/p>\n<p>    Fictions and animations    In the second half of the year, Netflix will premiere a new miniseries based on the short stories of Mariana Enriquez, who won the prestigious Herralde Prize for her novel Our Share of Night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    Directed by Oscar-nominated Pablo Larra\u00edn (No, Jackie, Maria Callas) and shot on location in the Piedrabuena neighborhood in Lugano, My Sad Dead stars Mercedes Mor\u00e1n as Ema, a 60-year-old doctor who can see and hear the dead. After her mother\u2019s death, Ema receives an unexpected visit from her niece Julie, with whom she shares the same unsettling gift.<\/p>\n<p>    Also in the second semester, the platform will unveil Lo dejamos ac\u00e1, featuring Argentina\u2019s most popular actor, Ricardo Darin (The Eternaut), and box-office heavyweight Diego Peretti.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    Directed by Hern\u00e1n Goldfrid, the film centers on a pragmatic psychoanalyst (Dar\u00edn) who loses faith in conventional psychological methods and begins to overstep boundaries with his patients. Everything seems to be working until a writer suffering from writer\u2019s block (Peretti) arrives at his office.<\/p>\n<p>    In the lead-up to the World Cup comes Dibu Mart\u00ednez: The Kid Who Saves Time, written by Hern\u00e1n Casciari and illustrated by Liniers (a frequent cover artist for The New Yorker). The film, directed by Gustavo Cova, blends previously unseen interviews with animation to tell the story of the boy who dreamed of being a goalkeeper and ended up becoming one of the greatest heroes of the Argentine National Team.<\/p>\n<p>    In 2027, the platform is also expected to release an animated adaptation of Quino\u2019s globally popular comic strip character Mafalda, directed by Oscar winner Juan Jos\u00e9 Campanella, as well as an adaptation of Philip K.
