{"id":50098,"date":"2026-04-06T22:47:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T01:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/service.codeus.ca\/index.php\/2026\/04\/06\/new-legal-complaints-filed-asking-to-investigate-public-officials\/"},"modified":"2026-04-06T22:47:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T01:47:11","slug":"new-legal-complaints-filed-asking-to-investigate-public-officials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/service.codeus.ca\/index.php\/2026\/04\/06\/new-legal-complaints-filed-asking-to-investigate-public-officials\/","title":{"rendered":"New legal complaints filed, asking to investigate public officials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> \t\t\t\t\t                       \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t Prosecutors are investigating at least three legal complaints over loans in the state-owned bank Banco Naci\u00f3n given to public officials and libertarian lawmakers, allegedly under preferential conditions.<\/p>\n<p>    Last week, local media reported that at least ten members of the Javier Milei administration or of his political party La Libertad Avanza had received mortgage loans for up to AR$510 million (US$360,000).<\/p>\n<p>    Digital Communication director Juan Pablo Carreira, Investment and Foreign Trade Bank (BICE) director Felipe N\u00fa\u00f1ez, and Finance Secretary Federico Furiase are among those who received the loans.<\/p>\n<p>    Economy Minister Luis Caputo denied any wrongdoing. \u201cThere has been nothing illegal about this, and much less anything immoral,\u201d Caputo said in an interview with LN+. \u201dI find it pathetic that [journalists] are talking about this like they committed a crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    Another public officer who took out a mortgage of close to US$300,000 was Leandro Massaccesi, who was allegedly removed from his role as chief of staff of the Human Capital ministry following the release of the loans data.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    However, Caputo said the dismissal had \u201cnothing to do\u201d with the loans.<\/p>\n<p>    Inconsistent financial loans    One of the complaints was filed on Monday by M\u00f3nica Frade, a lawmaker from the centrist Coalici\u00f3n C\u00edvica party. That complaint was received by Judge Mar\u00eda Eugenia Capuchetti and Prosecutor Paloma Ochoa.<\/p>\n<p>    Media reported that since Judge Ariel Lijo \u2014whom Javier Milei had nominated for the Supreme Court\u2014 had received a complaint on the matter before, he will be the instructing judge for the three cases, with the participation of Prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cIt is clear that, from the perspective of public officials, the beneficiaries obtained financial loans that were inconsistent with their financial profile or actual income,\u201d the complaint filed by Frade, which points towards the beneficiaries and Daniel Tillard, a former president of the Banco Naci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>    The complaint said that the case should be investigated over several possible criminal offenses, including negotiations incompatible with being a public official, influence peddling, resolutions or orders contrary to national or provincial constitutions or laws, among others.<\/p>\n<p>    Frade requested the intervening prosecutor to subpoena Banco Naci\u00f3n to obtain the complete credit files of the people who got the credits, obtain the Board of Directors\u2019 minutes through which the loans were approved, and instruct the National Judicial System\u2019s Corps of Accounting Experts to determine whether or not there was any financial loss to the bank.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prosecutors are investigating at least three legal complaints over loans in the state-owned bank Banco Naci\u00f3n given to public officials and libertarian lawmakers, allegedly under preferential conditions.
