\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t A new criminal complaint has been filed against Argentina\u2019s Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, alleging illicit enrichment in connection with a private flight he took with his family to Punta del Este during the recent Carnival holiday.<\/p>\n
The complaint was submitted by Deputy Marcela Pagano after reports revealed details of the trip to Uruguay. The issue surfaced amid ongoing controversy over an invitation extended to Adorni\u2019s wife to travel aboard the presidential plane that carried the Argentine delegation to New York.<\/p>\n
The news was first published on Wednesday in elDiarioAR by Sebasti\u00e1n Lacunza, who was Herald director between 2013 and 2017. The Adorni family traveled on a Hondajet registered as LV-HWA on Thursday, February 12, at 8:21 p.m. and landed in Punta del Este approximately 35 minutes later.<\/p>\n
Pagano argues that the cost of the private flight is inconsistent with Adorni\u2019s declared income and has asked authorities to investigate the matter as a possible case of illicit enrichment.<\/p>\n
Adorni confirmed the trip during an interview with TV network A24 but declined to provide details, describing it as a private matter. \u201cI went to Punta del Este, but I don\u2019t talk about my private life. I paid for the entire trip myself, from start to finish,\u201d he said, adding that he stayed at a friend\u2019s house.<\/p>\n
According to the report, Adorni was accompanied on the flight by his wife, Bettina Angeletti, two minors, and journalist Marcelo Grandio, a host on Public Television and a personal acquaintance of the official.<\/p>\n
Pagano announced the filing of the complaint on social media, writing that she requested an investigation because \u201ca private flight to Uruguay whose cost does not correspond to his declared income\u201d had been confirmed by one of Adorni\u2019s acquaintances.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She also referenced the government\u2019s campaign slogan, adding: \u201cIn the Argentina of the future, those who do wrong will pay the price.\u201d<\/p>\n
Presidency Secretary Karina Milei published on Thursday in X her \u201cfull and unconditional support\u201d to Manuel Adorni, \u201cin the face of so much media garbage.\u201d And ended: \u201cI know your integrity. That\u2019s enough for me. Always with you.\u201d<\/p>\n
The case adds to mounting scrutiny surrounding Adorni. On Wednesday, two additional criminal complaints were filed over the participation of his wife in the official delegation\u2019s trip to New York.<\/p>\n
