Donald Trump<\/a>has calledBad Bunny<\/a>‘s all-SpanishSuper Bowl<\/a>halftime show ‘one of the worst ever’ and a ‘slap in the face’ to America.<\/p>\n

The US President said therapper’s gig was ‘absolutely terrible’ and that there was ‘nothing inspirational’ about choosing a star who didn’t perform in English.<\/p>\n

Mr Trump was also deeply unhappy about some of the suggestive dancing because thePuerto Rican artist repeatedly grabbed his crotch and there were women twerking on stage.<\/p>\n

‘Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World’, he said in is excoriating review on Truth Social.<\/p>\n

‘It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence’.<\/p>\n

Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, was joined by Lady Gaga<\/a>, Pedro Pascal<\/a>, Ricky Martin, Jessica Alba<\/a>, Karol G<\/a> and Cardi B<\/a> as heheadlined the halftime show at Sunday’s Super Bowl LXwhere the Seattle Seahawks<\/a> trounced the New England Patriots<\/a> by 2913.<\/p>\n

The football field at the Levi’s Stadium in California was transformed into a sugarcane plantation and includeddomino players, a Latino wedding and utility poles for him to climb up to perform.<\/p>\n

Bad Bunny, a vocal opponent of Trump’s ICE agency, listed countries through North and South American while holding a footballwith the words, ‘Together, we are America’ written on it. A message on the big screen then read: ‘The only thing more powerful than hate is love.’<\/p>\n

At one point he alsoplaced his hand on a young boy’s head and handed him a Grammy. Viewers initially thought it wasLiam Conejo Ramos, the five-year-old who was detained by ICE agents last month. But in fact it was a young actor.<\/p>\n

While fans called it a love letter to Latin and Hispanic culture, the performance angered Donald Trump who called it ‘an affront to the Greatness of America’.<\/p>\n

He wrote:’This “Show” is just a “slap in the face” to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History!<\/p>\n

‘There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD’.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bad Bunny’s halftime show came a week after he made history at the Grammys by winning the coveted album of the year award, marking the first time it has gone to a Spanish-language album<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Right-wing pundits and administration officials lashed out at the NFL after Bad Bunny’s halftime show was announced<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell waved away concerns about the show after the Grammys, saying the Puerto Rican singer ‘understood the platform he was on’<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As an after thought, Trump repeated his regular criticism of his least-favorite NFL rule, writing: ‘And, by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!’<\/p>\n

Trump’s MAGA base also voted with their fingers by turning off NBC at halftime and instead firing up YouTube to watch Turning Point USA’s ‘All-American’ show instead.<\/p>\n

Mr Trump also suggested last week he was staying away because of the choice of musicians.<\/p>\n

‘I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible’, he said when asked about Bad Bunny and Green Day.<\/p>\n

Over 5 million fans were on the live stream at its peak to watch Kid Rock and Co provide an alternative halftime entertainment.<\/p>\n

Trump is yet to share his thoughts on the Charlie Kirk-themed show that aired alongside the official one, but it would not be surprising to hear the president give that a more positive review.<\/p>\n

In Bad Bunny’s show on NBC, Lady Gaga made an unexpected appearance alongside the 31-year-old Puerto Rican performer (real name: Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio) after the opening medley.<\/p>\n

They performed at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, where the Seattle Seahawks trounced the New England Patriots by 2913, marking just the second Super Bowl win for the Seahawks.<\/p>\n

Bad Bunny’s mostly Spanish set began with Titi Me Pregunto, which he sang while walking through a sugar cane field that had been constructed on the field, while other performers mimed harvesting it.<\/p>\n

He was dressed in a short white shirt and white trousers with drawstrings, and he carried a football in his white-gloved hands.<\/p>\n

After the opener came Yo Perreo Sola, Safaera, Party, Voy a Llevarte Pa’ PR, EoO and Monaco.<\/p>\n

In an amusing prerecorded segment, Bad Bunny appeared to fall through a roof into the living room of a shocked family, but he quickly brushed the plaster dust off his shoulders and kicked open the front door.<\/p>\n

Then the Puerto Rican star was pulled down a row of violinists as a couple appeared to conclude a marriage ceremony, leading into Lady Gaga’s surprise appearance for one of her songs.<\/p>\n

Bad Bunny, who won three Grammys that night, delivered a strong rebuke of ICE in his acceptance speech<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He first performed as a guest at 2020’s Super Bowl LIV, which was co-headlined by Shakira (pictured) and Jennifer Lopez. Bad Bunny became the first Latin artist to solely headline the show<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gaga added a splash of color with her red heels, and she appeared to have bleached her eyebrows<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gaga, wearing a blue sleeveless dress with a plunging neckline and a tiered skirt, performed a rendition of Die With A Smile, but rearranged into a Salsa-style version<\/p>\n

As Bad Bunny left the maze of sugar cane, he stopped to sing next to fruit vendors, a table of old men playing games and a beautician styling another woman’s nails.<\/p>\n

He then emerged on the roof of a building while a group of celebrities, including Pedro Pascal, Cardi B and Jessica Alba, danced beneath awning.<\/p>\n

He delivered a rare English message during the performance, declaring, ‘God Bless America,’ before naming countries across the Americas and highlighting his Puerto Rican heritage.<\/p>\n

Ricky Martin also joined the show to perform Lo que le paso a Hawaii, whichdebuted on Bad Bunny’s most recent LP, the 2025 hit Deb Tirar Ms Fotos.<\/p>\n

In a slightly bizarre section, the headliner climbed a platform and was surrounded by dancers dressed like workers who dangled from wires as if they were repairing transformers on electrical poles.<\/p>\n

He closed out his set with El Apagon, CAFe CON RON and his latest LP’s title track, DeBI TiRAR MaS FOToS.<\/p>\n

While the performance was entertaining as a pure spectacle, fans also noticed a number of political messages woven into it.<\/p>\n

Dr Allison Wiltz wrote on X:’The history of sugar slavery runs deep throughout the Southern states, the Caribbean, and parts of South America. His performance was brilliant, thought provoking, well executed.’<\/p>\n

Stage design also included imagery of exploding power grids, in a nod to the Puerto Rico’s frequent and often prolonged outages – an issue Bad Bunny has addressed in his music before.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump took to social media to give his thoughts on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In 2022, he released a mini documentary titled El Apagn meaning the ‘Power Outage’ in English focused on the island’s ongoing electricity problems.<\/p>\n

Other viewers were considerably more forgiving than Trump, with one gushing on X:’As a lady gaga fan and a bad bunny fan this halftime show was straight up crack in my veins.’<\/p>\n

Someone else said:’Bad Bunny was entertaining. Obviously some of the lyrics and dancing are what you’d expect from a hip hop act, but overall, pro-family, pro Puerto Rican\/Latin culture – yes, but also pro American. Sorry, just my honest assessment.’<\/p>\n

‘The performance was a vibrant, well-put-together celebration and tour of Puerto Rican and broader Latin culture. Opening in sugar cane fields, nods to street foods, wedding (between man and woman!)’, wrote a third.<\/p>\n

But some sided with the President, with one writing:’The NFL had a once in a lifetime to honor the USA with a Happy 250th Birthday half-time show. They blew it with foreign flags and a Spanish speaker. What a disgrace.’<\/p>\n

Another wrote:’The last I knew the Super Bowl was an American game, not a world game. The only flag that should have flown is the Stars and Stripes.’<\/p>\n

‘Welcome to Roger Goodell’s NFL!!! My grandchildren and I tuned in to the TPUSA halftime show. My wife said she watched a little of Bad Bunny out of curiosity and everything was in Spanish and ‘he grabbed his di*k majorly’.
