Trump says peace deal with Iran is now complete and authorizes full opening of Strait of Hormuz: ‘Let the oil flow!’

President Donald Trumpannounced Sunday that the US and Iran had reached an agreement that would end the Iran war and promised to ‘Let the oil flow!’

‘The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!’ Trump posted to Truth Social.

‘I hereby fully authorize the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade.’

‘Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!,’ Trump exclaimed.

In a Truth Social second post, the President boasted about the role he played in bringing about potential peace, nearly four months after Israel and the US launched attacks on Iran, which led to the closure of the Strait and gas prices spiking worldwide.

‘This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region,’ Trump said.’Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me.’

Trump threw out theJoint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the Obama-era Iran nuclear deal, during his first term.

‘The Leaders of the Region have, for the first time, found a President who can help them achieve real Peace,’ the President continued. ‘With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World!’

Trump’s announcement came the same day he was celebrating his 80th birthday and just hours before he planned to host a massive UFC fight on the White House’s South Lawn.

President Donald Trump announced Sunday evening that the US had struck a peace deal with Iran, with the aim to end the war three and a half months after it started

Pakistan‘s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also shared news of a dealbetween the US and Iran being reached, with both sides declaring ‘the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.’

‘The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland,’Sharif also noted in a post on X.

Trump will be in the neighborhood earlier in the week.

The President plans to fly overnight Monday to the G7 summit, which is taking place invian-les-Bains, France, on the shore of Lake Geneva, whichborders Switzerland.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier on Sunday that the deal will either be signed electronically by Trump or by Vice President JD Vance.

Vance told Fox News Sunday evening that the White House was still working out the logistics, but he planned to be on hand to sign the deal, and it was ‘possible’ the President could attend too.

Trump told the New York Times in an interview on Sunday that the agreement with Iran would make the Strait’permanently toll free’ and that negotiations to reach a final nuclear accord would begin Friday in Switzerland.

If those details couldn’t be worked out, Trump threatened to resume attacking Iran or make the US ‘the guardian of the Middle East,’ in return for 20 percent of the region’s revenues, the Times said.

In the phone interview, Trump was openly critical of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

‘He’s a very difficult guy, and to be honest with you, he should be very thankful to us for doing this. Because if Iran had a nuclear weapon, Israel wouldnt be around for two hours,’ the President said.

Earlier, Trump had complained to Axios’s Barak Ravid that Netanyahu has ‘no f***ing judgment.’

Ravid also claimed on X that President Trump told him, ‘Why did Bibi have to do a f***ing attack? I was so pissed off. I let him know. He has no f***ing judgement. I let him know that.’

The Israeli military said earlier on Sunday that Hezbollah had launched three projectiles towards communities in northern Israel earlier in the day, describing the attack as a blatant breach of the ceasefire.

They responded on Sunday by attacking ‘terrorist targets of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of Beirut, in response to Hezbollah’s firing into Israeli territory,’ per Netanyahu and Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz.

Following the attack, the President took to his Truth Social platform, stating: ‘This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran.

‘Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process.

‘We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down. There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel.

‘This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace – Let’s not blow it! Thank you for your attention to this matter.’

President Donald Trump (right) expressed frustration with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (left), saying that Israel’s retaliatory strikes against the Iranian-backedHezbollah could shatter the peace deal

Netanyahu’s office earlier said that the Israeli military had ‘carried out strikes in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut against terrorist targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization, in response to Hezbollah’s firing toward Israeli territory.’

Israel’s military added that it had ‘precisely struck’ a Hezbollah infrastructure site in Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Beirut that is regarded as a stronghold of the militant group.

There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah on Israel’s statement. However, the group said it had launched missiles and drones towards Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.

Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported that one strike hit an apartment in the Ghobeiry neighborhood of Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Images from the scene in Lebanon showed plumes of smoke and dust rising above the area, while debris littered nearby streets as residents searched through the aftermath.

Israeli officials, including Netanyahu, have repeatedly warned that Israel would target Beirut’s southern suburbs if Hezbollah attacked northern Israeli communities.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Trump would address the peace deal as part of the UFC programming Sunday night.

Trump has long been close to UFC CEO Dana White, who introduced the President at the 2024 Republican National Convention.

About 4,000 of Trump and the UFC’s closest friends are expected to be seated on the White House grounds, as tens of thousands more fans attend the fight and Fan Fest on The Ellipse just outside of the White House perimeter.

According to the President’s public schedule, Trump was supposed to be having a celebratory dinner with his family at 5:30 pm ET, just as he shared the news about the Iran deal on Truth Social.

Trump was then expected to attend the UFC Freedom 250 VIP reception at 7 pm, with the fights originally expected to start at 7:45 pm.

However, thunderstorms in the area were already causing the event to be delayed.

The seven fights are expected to stretch into the early Monday hours.
